The ancient skills — consisting of the erection of a self-supported wooden frame, held together with a system of tight connecting joinery, knee braces and wooden pins — are now enhanced by our practice of enveloping the timber frame entirely in structural insulating panels (SIPs). This method of enclosure affords the opportunity to display the beauty of the timbers on the inside of your home while offering you much more efficient insulation against heat or cold. Perhaps you prefer a rustic or rough- hewn look. Maybe a more formal smooth- planed or streamlined look is what you want. No matter. Our team of meticulous craftsmen will hand sculpt a frame specifically designed to satisfy both your desire and your budget. Our objective is to provide a common sense approach to designing an affordable home for you. We believe that the simple straight lines found in the timber frames of centuries ago still provide an elegance and beauty totally congruent with modern architectural values. If your interest is to accent the visible spaces in your home, we can integrate whole or partial timber frame components into any areas you wish. This procedure is known as a hybrid system. The appearance of your family room, master bedroom, foyer or porch can be greatly enhanced with the addition of visible timber trusses or beams. Your Green Mountain Timber Frame home is hand crafted. All timber frame members are carried, laid out, cut, finish-treated and pre-tested for fit in our timber shop. Next, the timber frame of your Green Mountain home is trucked to your home site, then erected and enclosed with a shell of structural insulating panels by our Pennsylvania craftsmen.
